"Glucosamine Product"
I now have a bottle for both house and kennel so all the dogs are getting the glucosamine which means the whole gang are a test case. I
know what this stuff does for dogs so I was using a different form of it before. They are now on the new liquid and I am sure it is a better product.
I do appreciate your chart as it does explain the need in a nice form. On another note I have been feeding the chickens fish oil in a mash.
They are very large fluffy chickens with the cutest butts and the eggs are so rich from the organic feed and fish oil. BTW it is winter here now
most of the time. My dogs have such thick coats it is amazing and they are a short hair breed. I can actually grab coat on them. Good ole fish oil.

"Fish Oil"
Good morning and I hope all is well. Michelle Curran of American Bulldog Rescue ordered a gallon of the fish oil for me to use a few months
ago and it worked wonders for my ABD! Thanks and again, your product has done wonders for my ABD with sensitive skin and a bad knee!
Eric Duggan

"I previously purchased a couple gallons from Christine Richardson, after seeing first hand how Vicki Daitch's two coat funk dogs' coats responded to
Ocean Omega. My malamute has allergies that caused him to scratch a lot, and after almost two years of Ocean Omega, his scratching has
subsided and his coat is obviously fuller. Thanks for the great product!
Jeff Kirchhoff Concord NH
I met you last month at Woofstock in Damariscotta, ME. I wanted to give you a testimonial about how well your product has worked for my 8 year old
Sheltie Sadie. Sadie has had hip dysplasia since she was born. I have txed her with glucosamine and condroiten since she was 12 weeks old. This winter
when we were having a particularly cold snap her hind end gave out while she was trying to go to the bathroom. We were both upset very much by this,
and I had to carry her into the house where it was warm before she could walk normally again. This happened several times. I mentioned the problem to
Aubrey at The Animal House and she suggested trialing your product. I was concerned that Sadie would not like the flavor, but she has shown no sign of
disliking it. I was also concerned that the oil would give her loose bowels, but that has not happened. Since using your product she has not had any
episodes of falling down. Sadie also has very dry skin and skin allergies. I notice that her coat is more shiny since starting on your product. Sadie also
has more energy and runs around more. I would highly recommend your product to anyone who has a dog with hip dysplagia. Thank you for a great
product. Beckie D.
"Ocean Omega's Fish Oil has been instrumental in the health of my pets. It is pro-heart, pro-joint, pro-skin. It is nature's number one natural anti-
inflammatory. My dogs and cats have had histories of joint problems and skin allergies. Since inception of Ocean Omega's fish oil to their diet, the skin
problems have been minimal. Lastly, the customer service provided by Ocean Omega's staff is unparalleled. I consider myself Ocean Omega's biggest
advocate." Michelle Curran Cereno, RN: American Bulldog Rescue member

The guys at Ocean Omega are terrific! I made a comment with my on-line order very early this morning and got a personal reply within an hour.......early
Sunday morning!!! Now that's customer service!

I wanted to thank you on behalf of my dog, Belle. She is almost 10 and acts and looks half her age. She is a part shephard, husky and golden. I started
giving her Ocean Omega after her cruciate ligament surgery. The vet told me that she had a 50% chance of developing it on her other leg. It's been 2
years and she doesn't even limp. Her hair is long and silky, her eyes are clear and she is extremely active. I notice a difference when I run out of your
product! Thanks for the great customer service! Vivian B Tewksbury Ma.
The fish oil has been working well. Especially for one of our dogs. We've never seen so much hair
on her before. Looks great! Thanks" Help support your dogs health
"I have been giving it to my dog Osa for almost 2 months now and have been very pleased with the
coat condition. I feed premium dog foods but found that their coats looked better once given
the fish oil. "

I have never had a flea in my kennel in 15 years. I treat my dogs with diatomaceous earth which is a fossil
powder and it takes care of all fleas, ticks, worms. Other then diatomaceous earth , I use no other product other than Ocean Omega Omega Fish Oil
which I have been using for five years and my dog are healthy. If you keep an animal then I think you are responsible to make sure it gets what it needs.

Barbara Sanders Proprietor of Howling Acres Breeder of Argentine Dogo

"Beijing also had a bare spot on his tail, where his skin was absent of any hair. Since starting the Ocean
Omega, his coat as stated earlier, started feeling softer after three weeks , but also the bare spot
started filling in during the past month and now is almost gone. I’m not sure, if the Ocean Omega helped
him grow back hair on his bald spot , but I would think so, and it sure has given him a better and softer coat."

My husband Hiram bought a gallon of Fish Oil from you yesterday at Sendaishi. I had been given us a 16 ounce bottle of it as a gift, and we've been using it
on the food of two of our 13 sled dogs. Those two dogs have had severe coat problems caused by an inherited disorder, inlcluding dry, thinning hair and
bald patches on their hips and tail. The condition is called "coat funk" in malamutes, but it has different names in other breeds. Veterinary
dermatologists simply call it alopecia x because so little is known about the causes. No definitive treatment exists at this time.

Our two dogs seemed to be getting slightly better before we started giving them your fish oil, but over the summer their improvement has been nothing
short of miraculous. While I am reluctant to attribute the regrowth of hair to fish oil alone, there is no doubt in my mind that it has been a major factor.
We had been afraid that those two dogs would have to be retired prematurely from our team, but now they have plenty enough coat to allow them to run in
all but the most extreme winter conditions. It will be interesting to see whether they continue to hold their new coats. Their condition is clearly a medical
disorder of some type, but, like other diseases, it is mediated by a wide variety of factors, including hormones and nutrition.

For a long time people have thought that omega fatty acids played a role in improving coats, but the results that people get from the various products out
there have been patchy, to say the least. I am the health committee chairperson for our national breed club, and will be sure to spread the word about
your product. It isn't appropriate for me to "advertise" any one product, but if my experience with your fish oil will help someone else's dog, I certainly
want to share it.

Thanks for your efforts on behalf of sled dogs and other dogs.

Best, Vicki Daitch Rubicon Alaskan Malamutes Canterbury, NH

"I had a female dog get into a bit of a tangle with one of my other dogs in the kennel, due to "HORMONES". "I have too many females trying to co-exist". "I
had to shave some body parts of her body to clean out the puncture wounds". "I started to give an extra dose of the Ocean Omega Golden Fish Oil and
she recovered quite nicely."
"I was running low on the Ocean Omega Fish Oil so I took some of my dogs off the product, and I figured they did not need it until I could reorder some
more". "Those dogs who were not receiving the Ocean Omega Golden Fish Oil started to shed and their skin began to become dry and scaly."

" I quickly reordered more of The Ocean Omega and immediately added the oil to their food, and they soon were all shiny again." "So yes this Ocean
Omega Product is GREAT!"

I have been breeder of the Dogo Argentino for 7 years. I've been using OceanOmega 3 fish oil for 4 years, and my dogs love it. It is great for their skin and
helps their coat really shine. It also helps picky eaters eat better. I start my puppies out on this and provide a sample for new puppy owners as well. My
dogs are happy and healthy and that makes me happy!!

Falkenhorst K-9 is a large boarding/ breeding/training kennel in Roanoke, Virginia. It has been in operation for nearly 50 years and has produced many
champions. At this time I am breeding Rottweilers, Argentine Dogos and Boxers as the larger breeds and some smaller breeds. I have all my dogs
including those that board on Omega 3 fish oil. My recent Boxer litter had the mother on the oil and she produced some of the best puppies I have seen.
She has a fine coat and the new babies are sleek and shiny and I know this is due to the oil they are receiving from their mother. Once weaned I shall
start them on their very own oil. Not only do the dogs love the taste and devour their food but they are in outstanding condition. I now purchase by the
gallon.

I also have a Cattery and I have recently put all the cats on Ocean Omega 3 oil. The Manx, Maine Coons and Bengals all love the fish taste and they have
fine thick coats and are very happy cats. Thank you from all of us for your fine product. Louise Jacobs, Falkenhorst K-9

Ocean Omega asked that I respond to a question you had regarding omega-3 dosage for your 125 pound dog with renal failure.

I need to start by saying that you should run my advice across your veterinarian before you start treatment. Please print out this email to show your vet.

In the past we had a veterinarian prescribe 10 grams of oil per day to a dog of unknown weight for alleviation of symptoms associated with kidney failure
with very positive results...i.e. the animal was doing well with a good quality of life, for over two more years. This recommendation was from Washington
State University Vet Med: http://courses.vetmed.wsu.edu/vm552/urogenital/crf.htm .The omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are degraded to different
eicosanoids. Preliminary studies suggest that diets high in omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids preserve renal function in dogs with induced renal failure
whereas diets high in omega 6 fatty acids hasten decline Omega 3 PUFA supplementation may reduce hypercholesterolemia, suppress inflammation and
coagulation, lower blood pressure and favorably influence renal hemodynamics.

The following protocol for dietary lipid modification is recommended: · obtain a baseline ,blood pressure
UPC (urine protein creatinine ratio)creatinine ,feed 1 to 5 g omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids per day
re evaluate baseline parameters at 2 and 4 weeks then monthly

As you can see, they had a lower dose recommendation of 1-5 grams of Omega-3 per day. One other source I looked up for comes from VIN (Veterinary
Information Network) where a participant had written this when posed "Discussion: Renal Failure and Proteinuria in a Lame Dog -Stop Rimadyl? Start
Enalapril? Omega 3 Dose :" One benign thing you can do for possible glomerular disease is to use omega-3 EFAs - the dose is 1 g per 5 kg - start low and
work up to this.

Kathy Lunn BVMS MS PhD MRCVS
DACVIM (Internal Medicine)
VIN Internal Medicine Consultant

With these recommendations the doses are still general. My suggestion would be to ask your vet about starting at a lower dose of 10 g omega-3 per day
since you have a large dog. Since the oil is ~30 percent omega-3, that would be about 30 grams or one ounce of oil per day. From there you can increase
the dose.

I have been using this product on my two elderly brother indoor cats for quite some time now. Their coat and skin condition is superlative. It is amazing
how their former profused shedding stopped within just a few applications. My vet is amazed at how well their immune system has responded, and he
highly recommends the continued use of Ocean Omega in the treatment of my cat Harry, who is a diabetic, and my cat Max, who has chronic
pancreatitus.

He is certain that this Ocean Omega Fish Oil has prolonged their 16 years of existence, and sees no foreseeable reason why they should'nt continue to
live many more years.

Fast Courteous Service at a Great Price. Superlative Company offering a Superlative Beneficial Health Product.

The Viscious Cycle of Working Capital

Staying Within The Boundaries of The Viscious Cycle Of Working Capital is Quite Challenging

working-capital-diagram.gif
As if there aren't enough figures dancing around the left side of my
brain these days, here's another concept that I need to have a constant grasp on if I want to stay on top of my business. It's not enough to make profit; I also
have to manage our working capital. Working capital is the cash that I
must have invested in our business to operate on a day-to-day basis
Effective management of working capital is crucial to the health of any business, including my own. Taking the time to conduct regular checks on working capital is an important task to ensure a healthy balance sheet and tighter management of cash flow.Working capital is a term used to define the short-term funding required to run a business at a particular turnover level. The basic breakdown of working capital for Ocean Omega is:

Cash at bank + inventory/stock + industry/ trade debtors + prepayments + sundry receivables, less industry/ trade creditors + accruals + sundry payables. The old cliche: growth is vanity, profit is sanity, but cash is king is the moniker that I must aspire to, if Ocean Omega is to survive as a thriving small business; in a very depressed economy. To turn a profit, as a small business owner, I have to be able to identify all costs of doing business. I then have to generate more in gross profit, so after paying all overheads the business has an excess, or a net profit.

weak dollar.jpg

Effective working capital management requires continual review and diligence in keeping adequate stock levels in addition to ensuring that the debtor collection and creditor payment functions are optimized. If I can manage this balancing act, while growing our gross profit margin, then our business will be running at optimum performance given its current sales.

Recent world wide demand for fish oil has required us to increase the cost
of a gallon of fish oil.Our shipping costs and product costs have gone up over
100 % percent during the past several months. As a commodity , the prices of fish oil fluctuates and going forward I hope for the price to drop some?

Working capital is a mostly hidden cost of doing business, and is
misunderstood by the majority of folks in business. I will always have working capital requirements, and the only way to minimize them is to stay on top of those areas of the business that give rise to them: our credit and collection policies, and our inventory management practices.

On average, 1 to 1.5 million tons of fish oil are produced worldwide
every year. As the growth in global aquaculture pushes demand up, however,
even this considerable quantity is hardly enough. Scarcity of supply means
that the prices for fish oil continue to rise.

Value Added Services and New Product Development can be a complex conundrum, when balancing costs of goods to determine a fair and equitable pricing structure..innovation_product_types_6x4.png
Therefore we will continue to explore new product expansion, keeping within the boundaries of the viscious cycle of working capital

The Slow Economy Is Choking Us Small Proprietors Too!

choking.jpg

Once again as small business proprietors, my business partner and I are trying to formulate contingency plans of attack against ever increasing prices in freight charges, cost of goods, packaging price increases , etal.

weak dollar.jpg
The weak dollar and high freight prices could keep we small business
proprietors depressed in 2008. How much the system is being bled to feed the "big businesses" and "big" pharmas greed will be the ultimate deciding factor. If they go too far the rest of the system will be thrown out of
balance and it won't matter if petroleum goes up or down, unless it is a significant downward spiral in petroleum prices.

This coupled with the volatility of the world fish market, makes our job even more challenging. The most recent series of curve balls that we have incurred at Ocean Omega include, the price increase of the fish oil itself, but also the delivering freight company trying to charge us a 400% increase in its delivery charges. This freight charge scenario is totally reflective of a more prevalent instance of incompetence on the part of the internal employees of the said freight company.

Incompetence in almost EVERY customer service related position in this country is also rearing its ugly head daily. You know the drill, call up on the phone, get put on hold, get transferred to somebody that can't speak the language, listen to 1970's elevator music, get cut off- sound familiar?

In any event, after a series of tenuous attempts to resolve the overcharge on the freight charges, I think? we are now ok there? We continue to attack the price increase on the fish oil by establishing creative pricing alternatives, and looking at different packaging alternatives, which I have alluded to in several previous posts in this blog.

All the checks and balances are almost gone. Once they are the system will
self correct and those that think they are fooling folks will be in the same
boat as everyone else.

I guess we need the lesson of 1929 to be repeated, but it will make 1929
look like a small time piker in comparison when it happens.

Hang on folks this is going to be one hellava ride and it isn't going to be
fun. More taxes is just a way of saying "We can't manage our budget."
As business owners, we have to operate on a budget if we want to stay in
business. There is so much waste in state governments, not to mention the
federal folks.

One refreshing thing recently happened, a sales person from a competing fish oil supplier recently visited one of our key accounts and did nothing but trash us and bad mouth us. They stated that they just couldn't understand how we could offer our product at such competitive pricing. I perceive this as the highest form of flattery, and just in case Mr. or Mrs. Sales person, if you are reading this blog here's a couple of ways that we can offer competitive pricing.

Because we care, because we try, because our product doesn't have botlles that have pretty pictures of serene lakes with fish jumping out of them, and the bottle itself doesn't cost a fortune just to put the fish oil into it, our product has a high efficacy rate IT GIVES PROVEN RESULTS.

Oh and by the way, we are also in this business utmost and foremost to help promote good health in ALL Pets! Our driving force is not to bilk people out of their hard earned money to attain 400% profit margins!

Ocean Omega Offering Cost Saving Options

VOLUME SAVINGS PROGRAMS

half gallon plastic jug.jpg

In my last series of entries, I alluded to upcoming changes to offer cost savings options for our Ocean Omega Clients. We have literally taken a look at offering half gallon containers of our Ocean Omega Fish Oil. We will soon be replacing our 32 oz bottles, with the new half gallon size containers. We actually took an emptyempty gallon jug.jpg gallon container and cut it in half, to do this assessment. We will be ordering new half gallon jugs soon, and upon their receipt by us, we will be pricing and adding them to our website.

case lots 2.jpg

In a further effort to offer additional savings options, we will soon be offering case lots of our 8 oz and 16 oz. bottles, with single and multiple case lot pricing to also soon be depicted on our website. These cases would have 12 bottles in for the 8oz and 9 bottles in for the 16 oz.The recent price increase incurred by us, will be passed on to the gallon jugs, and most probably our 5 gallon containers. Therefore, as previously promised, I am trying to find cost savings programs which will not only save dollars on the product itself, but also help diminish the ever rising shipping costs, i.e based on weight content.

We are also working on details for a "group purchasing" and "co-op" volume discount program, for such parties as , breeders, raw food diet proponents, pet advocacy groups, dog clubs, etc. We may at some point offer a close out sale on our 32 oz bottles as well I need to get with my business partner for available inventory counts. Interested Parties Should Contact Me Directly For Details! Ocean Omega Fish Oil

We are still crunching these numbers, but stay tuned as they will soon be added on our website, and I will be writing future blog updates to keep you all abreast of the progress of these changes. We are trying to continue to walk the extra mile for our clients, these are the value added features that separate us from our competition.

NEW PRODUCT COMING SOON=KELP POWDER!

Conveying Bad News Regarding Price Increases

Frustrating News.jpg

I have written in past blog entries of the inevitablitiy that the volatile fish oil market would see significant price increases in early 2008. Although, I hadn't envisioned that the increase would be THIS early and THIS significant. Ocean Omega was informed today ( as we actually were placing an order from our source supplier), that we have incurred a dramatic price increase.

EVERYTHING IS CONSTANTLY GOING UP IN PRICE
food price increases pic.jpgWorld fish oil manufacturing prices skyrocketed during the past three months and even reached an average record level in November. World production and supplies cannot keep pace with increasing fish oil requirements....

For Oct/Sept 2007/08 industry analysts estimate world fish oil production to virtually possibly stagnate to a very large degree. World production and supplies cannot keep pace with increasing fish oil requirements - both for food, human and pet nutrition, and aquaculture production. This will continue to keep fish oil prices well above average also in 2008. Manufacturers will charge significantly higher average prices throughout 2008.....

Customers are becoming conditioned to both the need to raise prices and the
reasons for raising them. Still, for distributors, it's a tough scenario.

So, what's to blame for today's price increases? According to economists and
consultants, they're attributable to a global economic "perfect storm" that's
not just affecting fish oil product prices. The rising cost of steel,
plastics (resins), fuel, and shipping trickle down and affect
the cost of Ocean Omega supplies. Similarly, the United States must contend with the increasing raw materials demand from other countries such as China,
which drives up those costs.

When raw materials prices shoot up, every industry's prices are affected

The typical price hike notification sparks a complicated chain of events for
distributors such as ourselves, who must update pricing schedules, deliver the
unwelcome news to customers, and often, rethink the way we MUST pass along
costs. If we were lucky, we would have received a month's notice from the manufacturer before the increase actually had already taken effect.

A price increase is handed down from manufacturer to distributor for a specific product, the end user must unfortunately pay more for that product.
The process itself can be a challenge.

Informing the customer of the increase is no easy task, either. While
occasional price increases are expected, nobody wants to pay more. Customers
Most customers realize [prices] are going to go up, but when they continually go up many times in a short period of time, everybody suffers.

Everything you use has incurred some form of inflationary pricing,
there is little distributors can do when the entire marketplace is
experiencing rapid price increases. While manufacturers may absorb a greater
portion than distributors may have guessed, distributors don't have much
choice but to accept what their manufacturers pass down in the way of
increases.

Shopping Around

One consequence of raising end users' prices can be increased instances of
price "shopping" to the competition. Though this can be nerve-wracking for
distributors who worry about their competitors undercutting their pricing,
in today's economy, end users are finding that similar price increases have
gone into effect for other distributors, as well.

They're running a business just like we are. Our competitors will be having the same price increases as we do, and they too will have to deal with them.

More so why we will have to enhance the opportunity to reiterate the value we bring to the customer versus our competitors. My position gets more challenging daily, as we now have to reassess programs that we just instituted to save our clients money. Our price increases will be going into effect VERY SOON more to come as to how I will continue to attempt to devise cost savings programs to try and abate these impending price increases of our fish oil!New Product diversification is high on our priority board.

Ocean Omega The Costs Of Pretty Packaging

Current Specials

SEE OUR WEBSITE AND PREVIOUS ENTRIES IN THIS BLOG FOR DETAILS ABOUT A 15% SAVINGS Visit Us and Save Money Now!

One of the major hurdles Ocean Omega is encountering as we broach seeking more retail venues is; battling the high cost of raw materials and packaging. I am working on setting examples of how our distributorship could overcome the problem and grab a decent share of retail markets. The major dilemna at hand is
Abstract:Changing and Upgrading Packaging for Retail Exposure.

Differentiation and branding of fish oil and pet healthcare products have created interest in the potential for Ocean Omega to consider how to best invest further up the fish oil supply chain to capture a greater share of the consumer's dollar. However, the ultimate success of our distributor-owned ventures will depend on our ability to identify market opportunities and execute merchandising strategies to maintain sales of a competitive product in a commodity market environment.

Application title – brand name: Ocean Omega Fish Oil For Pets

Applicant company: Ocean Omega

Brand owner: Ocean Omega BH Sales

Category:Fish Oil For Pets: Pet Nutrition

Project scale: 1 national 1 regional 1 local

Marketing goal

Specify clear goals and tasks of the project. For example, to occupy a certain market share; to increase sales among the target group representatives; to achieve a certain level of brand perception; to change the present attitude towards the brand; to achieve a certain level of brand awareness; to encourage brand loyalty, to increase the number of those who have used the product, etc.

1.) Strengthening Ocean Omegas’ positions in the segment of fish oil for pets , growth of sales by the rates exceeding the growth of the market (the forecast for the market growth in 2008 is +6%), increase of weighed distribution up to a level not below 45 % with focus on quality of distribution with using of non-standard POSM ( Point of Sales Materials ).

2.) Increase the Ocean Omega brand awareness among the target audience up to 60 % and positioning the brand as a fish oil of supreme quality and worth. Growth of the following image characteristics: as it will pertain to SOME retail venues: the points of consideration include changing packaging to accommodate: “Stylish brand”, “Sophisticated brand” and “Brand which is worth paying more for".

3.) The launch of a new SKU in bottles with a new label to strengthen the emotional appeal to the brand “Ocean Omega” as a fish oil of supreme quality and worth, emphasizing the sophistication of the consumer. In the months after a tentative launch of such a campaign we would hope to see the the share of the new SKU not less than 10 % from the total brand volume and the weighted distribution not less than 8% .

4. ) Strengthening the link between Ocean Omega and the world of retail based venues based on the current brand’s positioning as a fish oil with bright individuality. Growth of the image indicator the "Brand connected with the world of fish oils".

The entries above are some marketing jargon that basically breaks down to this: how we are forced to slowly progress to a difference in bottling and labeling, reflective of high costs incurred when working with a modest shoe string budget.

Fancy Bottles.jpg

Although it is quite true that eye catching packaging and labeling definitely have a place when comprising being placed on a retail venues' shelving, which is more matriculated when there are already several other fish oils being displayed. However, our dilemna remains how to accomplish this moving forward without DRAMATICALLY passing on the costs of expensive labels and bottling to "pretty up" the outward appearance, without inflating the price of the contents within significantly?

This is even more so where our website and Ocean Omega Blog and Passionate Pet Lovers Message Board will play an integral role in our growth and development. We have to secure the fact that clients believe that the product within is a superior product at a fair and reasonable price, and perhaps concede that the product at this juncture isn't necessarily in the Touchie, Glitzy Make You All Warm and Fuzzy Packaging.

Our first process has been in place for several months now, a new label which conveys pertinent information, the upgrading of both the bottles and labels is in a "phase in mode", contingent on available funds moving forward.

Pretty Packaging.jpgretail shelving.jpg

With a full money back guarantee; we simply ask "close your eyes" open the bottle and use the product-if you are happy with what the results are for your pet, please take solace in knowing the fact that someday we will have it in a bright and fuzzy package which will enhance our opportunities for retail venue dissemination then we will not only have the best fish oil out there, but perhaps the prettiest packaging also.

Ocean Omega Striving For Superior Customer Service

Everyone Promises Great Service.jpg

OCEAN OMEGA DELIVERS ON OUR PROMISE

Ocean Omega is a small business, and in my capacity as both a Co-Owner and Sales & Marketing Director, I take heed that we have a fighting chance of survival if we treat our customers right! We may not have the huge capital, the best technology ,or the hype and publicity of the "big" boys, However, we can still compete effectively online by focusing on our customers, figuring out what they want and need and making life easier for them. Focusing on getting the basics right: superior service leads to satisfied customers; satisfied customers
lead to referrals and referrals are the most effective way to build a wide
customer base.

Our companys mission is to provide a great customer experience.

We must commit ourselves to creating the best possible customer experience
for our site. Some brick-and-mortar organizations making a crossover to
e-commerce have ingrained behaviors and attitudes that hinder delivering
superior customer service. Building a greater customer experience is not an
event, but a continuous process towards online success.

Customer Retention.jpg

It has been my experience in over thirty years of sales & marketing, that if our small pet healthcare business strives for excellence by practicing and providing the above listed tenets, the devoted customers, who truly seek the best for their pets health and well being, will come to recognize that this is what separates us from our competition. I would encourage readers of this blog who have come to know us to please voice their opinions.

The Effects Of The High Costs Of Petroleum On Our Ocean Omega Business

oil prices.jpgShipping Costs USA Map.jpg

Record-high levels of oil prices are causing small business owners to re-think their business strategies. The increase in the cost of petroleum for our Ocean Omega business has become ever increasingly difficult in trying to stay competitive with shipping fees. We empirically study the effects of shipping fees and marketing activities on customer acquisition, customer retention, and average expenditures using data from our online transactions.

Transportation costs are rising, as is the cost of plastic bottles and
caps, which are made from crude. Rising gasoline prices affect both
individual consumers and businesses, but small businesses often get hit
hardest. Small businesses often don't have much of a financial reserve to
cover rapid increases in their cost of doing business.

It has been continually hard to maintain our quality level and not raise
prices.Rising oil prices have affected not only our delivery costs; but it
has also affected just about all our costs:The distributors are charging us more
because their costs are higher as a result of rising oil prices. When we
first began we did not charge for delivery, and then when the first gas
prices began to climb, we began charging for delivery to help compensate for
the expenses. We try not to pass the increase on to our customers. Therefore,
we still absorb a portion of the shipping charges of all of our orders being
processed.

I'm a customer also, and I also get tired of always having to pay more because
things are out of control. While we realize everyone is dealing with the same problem, the larger corporation is able to pass the increase on to their customers. If we were to do this at their same rate, we would not have customers to pass the cost onto for very long.

auto ship.jpgdiscounts.jpg

This is why we constantly strive to formulate special pricing, auto ship
programs, seasonal specials, multiple product discounts, and offer our fish
oil in larger size containers at a deeply discounted dollar figure to continue to provide a superlative product at competitive prices. The task at hand gets ever increasingly difficult.

Ocean Omega Being Asked About Start Up Businesses Online

How To Create Ones Own Home-Based Website Business

One of the readers of this blog, and someone who has investigated our Ocean Omega website, recently sent me a private e mail asking for advice on how to implement starting an on-line website business.I must start out by stating I do not claim to be an expert in this arena by any stretch of the imagination. I am willing to share what I have tried to accomplish over the last decade in starting, establishing, and continually promoting my own home based endeavors. I might also add that this is obviously an on-going saga for me. I have started out as a sole proprietor some 10+ years ago, and my present venture is with a business partner. The variables are complex and taxing to say the least , and one always has to be prepared with a contingency plan, as I have found nothing stays the same forever. In comparison to traditional brick and mortar businesses, online website commerce requires to some degree minimal start-up costs and is relatively low-risk. However, it is not a simple process, neither does it come with any guarantees of future success.

Find Your Niche

A good starting point is to find something that you yourself are passionate about, your niche if you will. Hobbies and interests can serve as potential business ideas. If you love cooking, for example, consider selling cooking supplies, recipes, etc online. Focusing on your expertise or something you have great passion for would give you an advantage over competitors who do not have in-depth knowledge of that niche.

Research Your Topics

Once you've whittled down a few ideas, explore each one further. Ask yourself some probing questions: How many people are looking for your services? Where do they go and find people like yourself? How many searches are created for your product or service on Google, Yahoo, and other major search engines? Budget constraints and start up costs can in and of themselves be a major deterrent when trying to establish ones self. You may find it safer and cheaper to go where the demand already exists.

Investigate what competitors are doing and how they are doing it

Thorough research can become an immediate asset. Take the time to surf the web, investigate websites, blogs, articles, and any other sources of information pertaining to your topic, and compare others' products and services.

Write your business plan and remain vigilant and perservere in your endeavors

You want to have a foolproof business plan for your business. Work out a detailed formula - including your site theme, goals, and business strategies. Assimilate and retain accurate records of expenditures, sales, profits etc. Distinguish yourself to gain distance between your competition and your upstart business. Develop plans that set you apart from your competitors and makes you stand out from the crowd!
You'll want your website content to target specific keywords for high search engines ranking and traffic flow. This can be done by creating informative articles, product reviews, descriptions and comparisons.
A search on Google for web hosting should bring up hundreds of companies ready to do business with you. Select a reliable web host that provides adequate disk space and bandwidth with e-commerce scripts supporting features.
Implement a Shopping Cart

An online website site is never complete without a secure shopping cart.

Marketing and Promotion

When you have identified your niche, set up your website and give it a go. Promoting your website could be a full-time career option for most people.
Begin by submitting your site to major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and others. You also need to optimize your site using profitable keywords and keyword-rich content. There are lots more business promotion strategies such as advertising, link exchange, networking, e mail promotional campaigns, etc. which you may need to explore to create your online presence and build traffic.

Setting up your website is a lot of work, and it's only the first step. Making it successful is even more work, but the pay-offs can be rewarding. Remember, it does take extremely hard work and a very strong willed constitution to seek success!

I hope this information in some way is beneficial in determining ones efforts for implementation--good luck to all!

Auto Ship Program

Ocean Omega Fish Oil Auto Ship Program

New Automatic Ocean Omega Shipment Program

Ocean Omega

Simplify Life Ocean Omega Automatic Delivery Program

Save up to 15% on our natural Ocean Omega pet supplies and have them delivered right to your door just when you need them!

Ocean Omega offers its Simplify Life Automatic Shipment Program to make your life easier by having natural Ocean Omega pet food supplements delivered to you on a regular basis. No more trips to the store, no more running out of fish oil, no more reminder notes - the supplies always arrive just when you need them. Best of all, you'll save 15% on the cost of all products delivered to you on the Ocean Omega Simplify Life program !

After we implement the auto ship program, each time when you are placing an order on our site, simply look on the product page for the item called " Ocean Omega Simplify Life Automatic Delivery Program - Weekly Interval". In the quantity field for the product enter the quantity you would like to order, and in the quantity field for the Ocean Omega Simplify Life Automatic Delivery Program enter the weekly interval at which you would like the item(s) delivered (for example, 4 = every four weeks, 6 = every six weeks). Don't worry about getting the frequency exactly right, just use your best guess. You can always change the frequency, accelerate or postpone a delivery, temporarily suspend delivery, or completely cancel the deliveries.

We will immediately deliver the first order. Then every time your order comes up for scheduled delivery, we will send you an email with a receipt and a link to track the shipment. This is a program that will facilitate our repeat customers being able to enjoy an extra "savings" discount structure on their 2008 purchases of our fish oil.

This will be most importantly designed to incorporate an additional 5% discount for our repeat customers over and above their 10% reorder discount for a total of a 15% standard discount on ALL repeat orders to include both our gallon and 5 gallon containers, as well as our 8, 16, and 32 oz bottles. The immediate consideration for those clients that may be interested in pursuing the program, is of course for them to determine how often they actually purchased our OO fish oil during this past year and to formulate their particular pets application cycles of our fish oil. This then would translate to x# of applications to determine the necessitatated order dates, ie. if a once a month order cycle=12 yearly purchases, that would equal 12 x an additional 5%discount= a total 60% cumulative additional yearly savings for the client, with predetermined delivery dates. This should enhance the opportunity to virtually never be out of Ocean Omega Fish Oil for your pet. Contact us for further details and sign up procedures.

Ocean Omega 2007 Reflections on how we do business

"Let the past and its bad habits be done with."
Author-Unknown

I have asked myself the following series of questions and have had some
thoughts and reflections regarding doing business as OO as we move rapidly
towards 2008:

We are all creatures of habit. Most of us get up at the same time every day
and go to sleep at the same time every night. We tend to do the same things
the same way we did them before.

As a business owner we've developed processes to deal with situations that
occur frequently. How do you know when the processes in place aren't working
or could be improved? Do we have a process in place to reassess the way we
do things?

The topic or re-evaluation is on my mind at the moment as I'm currently
taking stock of the past year. I'm looking at things I've done well and
things done not so well in an effort to improve our business in the coming
year. My recent decision to change my active involvement in the hands on
affairs of OO is a first step along those lines.

When is it a good time to reassess how we do things?

At specific intervals - We might decide to take stock; every six months of
every year for example.

After a successful or failed project - The end of a project can be a good
time to evaluate not only that specific project, but business in general.

When we feel like we need to - Not necessarily the best method, but the one
that usually transpires.

The most common approach is to re-evaluate where we are on a consistent
basis at a set time. Year end might be a good time and likely how most New
Year's resolutions came to be. When we decide to assess things is less
important than making sure we do assess where we are from time to time.

Chances are there is some aspect of our business we're taking for granted
and a period of reflection can help identify what it might be. A look inside
can also help when it comes to taking our business in a new direction should
it need a new direction.

Can Taking a Step Back be the Best Way To Move Forward?

Sometimes the shortest distance between two points isn't a straight line.

Imagine you're working for a company and making $20/hr. It's not a bad
salary, but you want more. Unfortunately there's really no place to move up
in your company and at best you'll gain the occasional cost of living
increase while waiting and hoping for the possibility that some opportunity
will find it's way to you.

What if instead you left that job for another that paid $15/hr, but had a
much greater upside? Less money today so you could earn significantly more
tomorrow.

Stepping outside our comfort zone. The habits we all have are our comfort
zone. Our habits are safe, because we did them yesterday and know what to
expect from them today. Safe maintains the status quo. Safe is not
remarkable.

Giving up our comfort zone to take a chance on the unknown can feel like a
step back. It can also be exhilarating. Is it us? Depends on where we are
and how happy we are to be there.

I plan on spending some time this month as the year winds down evaluating
where I've been, thinking about where I want to go, and deciding if what
I've been doing will get me there.

When was the last time we took a long look at the way we do business? Is
everything running smoothly or could it stand a little improvement. When was
the last time we re-evaluated how we do things?

"The successful person makes a habit of doing what the failing person
doesn't like to do."
-Thomas Edison
