Opportunity Sprays

Sponsorship of beloved non-profit organizations is a time honored marketing strategy. Here is how one local business sprayed it on....

Last night I attended Maine State Music Theatre's production of the Broadway smash Hairspray. I know, I could have just watched the movie, but live theatre is a joy to behold.

MSMT, like all theatre companies, partners with local businesses to sponsor their work. Sponsorship of a nonprofit organization is win/win, offering the nonprofit needed capital and offering the business a visable way to show their customers they care.

For Hairspray, MSMT obtained "Big Hair" sponsors for most of the performances. As we picked up our tickets and had a snack prior to the curtian, the beautiful and talented stylists from Bath Hair, Inc. demonstrated their "big hair" styling ability on a member of the MSMT board. The stylists also dressed the part in 60's costumes and all sported some cute big hair updos coated in lots of hairspray. The smart management of Bath Hair not only used the marketing power of demonstrating their styling skill, but gave out hair spray samples and business cards that outlined all of their services.

A huge part of marketing is making your promotions stick. This promotion stuck in my mind just as well as hairspray sticks in your hair.
