So Where Was The Kicker?
My husband and I both eagerly await the Superbowl. He’s glad as it’s a reproach-free reason to drink ample amounts of beer (take one for the team!) and I can’t wait for the new ads. With four small children, however, we have to strategize and take a team approach. I cover him during the big plays; he yells when the commercials come on. Thank God for half-time.
Now it’s the Monday-marketing quarterback time. There were some bright spots. Blockbuster gave it a hilarious opener with the talking mouse.
Budweiser showed us how funny you can be with a big budget. And Maine’s Gino Bona’s winning ad made us proud.
A few other’s…snicker’s kiss, Sierra Mist and Career Builder’s performance evaluation most notably. (Comb-over anyone!?) But is anyone as disappointed as I am? The Superbowl is the top of the hype for advertising…huge budgets and a viewership like no other. So where were the breakthrough ads? Go Daddy should have just gone home, Jessica Simpson was cheesy and Toyota should have hit the brakes. Maine’s Mentos had more fizz than the lot of them.
Did I miss a quarter? What were your favorites?
Maybe it's because the Patriots weren't there. Till then, pass the beer. I’m waiting for next year.

Nice job on the Blog! This seemed like Super Bowl Lite as far as Ads went. The Talking Mouse was innovative and creatively well done, but it was so cute that it may have overpowered the message. The Snicker's Kiss grossed me out so much that I have to re-evaluate my lifelong relationship with Snickers Bars...:-(
